![]() They offer a safe, fictional space where children meet characters who appear to be a lot like them but have experiences unimaginable to them. We try to protect children from all sorts of uncomfortable emotions nowadays, and I have to say I admire the classics for not doing that. They present real fears, disappointments, humiliations, and regret.
